First time going and wouah I was impressed by the size of the park. Lots to see, lots of live feeding/experience that the kids enjoyed. Great food at the cafe too.
Really sad, barely see animals went around 1, also some animal encounters are so far you need binoculars to see them. Zoo is run down, needs a massive upgrade haven’t been back since I was in primary school, and it looks the same from 20 years ago except run down. Food was good, keepers were awesome, but the animals seem depressed, tiger feeding time was sad, literally just chucked a box of meat for them to rip open.
We were saddened to see how sad the gorilla , lions and tiger were. Surely more enrichment would do them good. The farmyard was a sad experience too. The otters enclosure was dirty. There were no monkeys, Zebra or Tasmanian devils visible. The grounds themselves could do with a lot more planting, new bright signs and imagination. We loved feeding the giraffes. We hope that Orana receives funding to make the animals lives better and to breath life back into this potentially amazing park.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your visit to the Park Annikah. Naturally, we are disappointed to hear the Park did not meet your expectations. Orana is set on 80 hectares and is home to over 90 different species of animals. The balance we aim to achieve in an open range setting is displaying animals in spacious exhibits whilst also not having visitors peer at specks in the distance. Over the years, we have worked hard to develop a range of interesting scheduled daily animal feed presentations enabling visitors to view our animals up close and to interact with the keepers during their public talks. We encourage visitors to follow this schedule to ensure they get the most out of their visit. Orana Wildlife Park is a registered charitable trust and not-for-profit organization. We heavily rely on gate takings to operate and in fact, over 60% of our income is derived from gate sales, so we thank you for visiting. Your support goes directly back into the Park and allows us to continue our conservation work, such as breeding kākāriki karaka for release to the wild. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope you will consider visiting us again.

A perfect midwinter day out
Impressed by the attentive, informative staff at the lion feeding and African Painted dogs feeding times. Spent 3hrs walking around and could have stayed another hour to have seen everything.
