Confinement Taupo offers 4 exciting escape rooms with unique themes, storylines and clues as well as outdoor scavenger hunt's perfect for people who enjoy problem-solving games, birthdays, corporate team building and stags or hens do's.
We are located in central Taupo and are the first Escape Room in New Zealand to achieve a Qualmark certification.
Our fully themed escape rooms have regularly changing clues meaning you can come back again and again for a fresh new challenge every time. Get your team together and put your detective hats on to see if you can solve the clues and puzzles to escape in 60 minutes or less...
The Cabin in the Woods

Storyline:Elm Forest is a place of whispered legends, where people vanish and ghostly figures roam. As paranormal investigators, you venture into its depths, drawn by reports of distant screams and eerie lights. The cabin holds a dark secret - witchcraft, sacrifices, and a deadly curse. You've entered now you must escape....You have 60 minutes before the curse sets in, escape or be one of the many that have been claimed forever.
Suitability:*EPILEPSY WARNING* There are bright lights that flash in this room. THIS ROOM HAS OCCULT RELIGIOUS-THEMED CONTENT. R13-themed room. This room is dark, and those with poor eyesight may find it difficult.

The Cursed Cabin Escape Room
Very challenging but a totally enjoyable experience. The staff are so helpful and supportive. I recommend this to anyone.

Hard
First experience with a escape room, this is the second hardest one we were told. Room is dark so need a lantern which is supplied.. they have QR codes to scan for clues if needed but takes off time on your hour. A real brain work out. Some parts are easy and other parts are real challenging. Give it a go..

Highly recommend.
Had the absolute best time!! We came here whilst travelling 2 years ago and absolutely loved it. So when on this current visit to beautiful Aotearoa we knew we had to come back. My wife and I love escape rooms and try to do at least one wherever we travel in the world. Confinement is the best escape rooms we have ever done anywhere. So much so, we did all 4 of their escape rooms and also their outdoor scavenger hunt on this visit. The rooms are so clever and thrilling to complete and the staff are amazing. So friendly, kind and genuinely want you to have a great experience. I would like to thank Deiryn, Emily and Maia for all of their hand work and for helping make our visit so happy and memorable. We will be back again for sure on our next visit. Cannot recommend this place enough.
